National Clinical Mentor on HIV pays familiarisation to visit, commends GoHealth for inclusion of People Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHIV) in it's BHCPF programme.

A delegation of from the State AIDS and STI Control Programme (SASCP) and Centre for Integrated Health Program (CIHP) led by Mrs. Esther Hollen and Mrs. Emily Madina were at the office to introduce Dr. John Tunde Aremu who was just appointed as the National Clinical Mentor on HIV and AIDS.

Dr. Aremu noted that he has been following activities of the agency keenly on social media, radio and other news outlets and is happy with the results the agency has set so far. He commended the Agency on it's inclusion of PLWHIV in the BHCPF programme adding that this will better help in achieving it's global target of which at the moment is 96%, and also state that GoHealth was a key partner towards achieving ownership and sustainability.

In addition, Mrs. Emily Madina stated that there was a lag, especially in paediatric and mother to child transmission as most women in rural areas do not have access to HIV self test kit. She also shared her intention to enroll staff of CIHP in the GoHealth Scheme.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Team Lead of the Agency, the Director Planning Research and Statistics, Mr. Umar Tanimu Umar, thanked the team for their visit and attributed the successes recorded in the Agency to the commitment of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who has been very proactive and deliberate about developing the health sector in the state.

According to Mr. Tanimu whoever is not infected is affected noting that HIV, is an issue that affects everyone in the state and gave the assurances of the Agency's Team Lead, and promised to table the concerns raised.
