Access to Care under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund Implementation commences as Health Agencies sign Service Level Agreements with Health Care Providers...

Gombe State has commenced the full implementation and disbursement of funds to health care providers under the Basic Health Care Provision Funds (BHCPF). This followed the signing of Service Level Agreements (SLA) between the agencies responsible for the implementation of the fund and the health care providers.

The service level agreements was signed between the service providers (primary and secondary healthcare facilities) and the two implementing agencies i.e., the State Primary Healthcare Agency and the State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (GoHealth).

The Honorable Commissioner of Health Dr Habu Dahiru witnessed the signing ceremony that took place at the Multipurpose Hall, College of Medical Sciences. In his address, he described the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund as joint programme between the Federal and State Governments. He added further that all 114 primary health facilities in the state have been accredited by the NHIS to provide the basic minimum package of healtb service to the people. He called on the facilities to ensure transparency and accountability in the utilisation of the funds and cautioned that mismanagement of funds will not be tolerated by the government.

Team Lead of GoHealth Dr. Abubakar Musa described the signing of the service level agreement as an important step in the state’s journey towards the attainment of Universal Health Coverage in the state.

In his address, the Executive Secretary, Gombe State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Shuaibu Abdurrahman appreciated the efforts of His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for paying the counterpart fund of N100 Million that enabled the state to participate in the program. This is in addition to the revitalization of the 114 PHCs across all the wards of the state.
